Hi AP Bio carbon units!!!
Hope you are well! Miss you and your genomes:) and being in the classroom.
As you have heard from SVSD today (Sunday) via text and phone notification MSHS is having all teachers move forward with new material and assigning graded work starting this week.
The first assignment is for you to take the AP Classroom MCQ and FRQ for Unit 6.which is Big Idea 3: Information transfer. This diagnostic correlates with Chapters 13-18 from Campbell and Chapter 9 from Cliffs and AP Biology Investigations 8 (PGlo lab) and 9 (DNA fingerprinting lab.).
Please take the multiple choice question (24 question) and free response question (2 questions) diagnostic to give you feedback on your understanding of the Essential Knowledge elements and science practices associated with Big idea 3.
Assignment directions- due by 4:00PM Tuesday (April 7th).

You are encouraged to do test corrections (1/3 pts per question:) added to your exam score). For the last unit exam, if you were in 4th period and took a paper copy, contact Mr. Rapin and he will scan your answer sheet with the correct answers indicated in red ink on the test form. then access AP Classroom to access the exam questions and annotated answers.

- Writing up a reflection that is based on your diagnostics results and 1) analyzes your strengths as well as 2) specific areas you need to review/focus on and 3) your plan for mastering those areas.
- Post in this Google form specific questions you have on the concepts related to the questions in the diagnostic that you would like to review/discuss on Thursday (I will try to set up a Zoom review session) for the time that we would regularly meet. Please see specifics for this session that will be posted below on Wednesday.

What chapters are left from Campbell?
- Glad you asked:) The AP Biology exam will be on Units 1-6. I do not know why College Board did not include Unit 7 which is on Evolution. As we all know, evolution is The Big Idea, and is inseparable from content learned in Units 1-6. I would strongly encourage you to read and understand chapters 19, 20 and 21 from Campbell. Use a method that works for you and really allows you to read for understanding (so technically we are done with formal graded chapter reviews).
- This week you should have finished Chapter 19 by Friday (April 10), Chapter 20 by the next Friday (April 17), and Chapter 21 (Friday 24). On Friday April 24 there will be an exam on these three Chapters and a diagnostic (Unit 7) given in AP Classroom on April 24th.
- After April 24th we will be reviewing for the big event on May 18 at 11:00AM (see exam details below)
